Why You Should Holiday in Mallorca

In the capital of the island of Palma, one of the most visited attractions in Mallorca is La Seu, the Cathedral of Santa Maria, dominated by the view from the sea. Palma’s huge sandstone cathedral was built in the 14th century on the site of an earlier mosque during the Moorish occupation of Mallorca.

Besides shopping and eating, one of the best things to do in Palma de Mallorca is to visit its fabulous Gothic cathedral. The star of the show in the capital of Mallorca is undoubtedly the magnificent Cathedral of Palma.

Conveniently located opposite Palma Cathedral, this 10th century Moorish fortress is one of the capital’s main attractions. Once a former royal residence and an infamous prison, today Bellver Castle is one of the most popular destinations in Mallorca.

A visit to one of the 10 million-year-old cave complexes is a good choice if you are having an odd day in Mallorca with bad weather. For such a small island, Majorca is rich in a huge variety of landscapes. So one of the best ways to get to know the island is by renting a car and planning a short road trip, with a plethora of beautiful Mallorca villas to return to and lay your head down after a hard day’s exploration. Car rental in Mallorca is quite affordable and gives you complete freedom of movement, with villa rental making for the kind of experience that makes you feel like a local.

There are several places on the island where you can rent a beautiful vintage motorcycle to explore the island as well…

Although Palma is my favourite place to live in Mallorca, my favourite place for vacation is definitely Cala Figuera

This is the second place we live in Mallorca. After a few days of leaving, I’m already homesick. For example, on our last day in Mallorca, we went to this beach from the other end of the island just because we liked it. I like all the small villages in Mallorca, where there are steep hills, narrow streets and quiet squares…

So be careful…A short trip-turned long-term trip might result in you wanting to make your presence there more of a permanent one!

We started our visit to Palma de Mallorca, the cosmopolitan capital of the island. If you are a city lover, Majorca’s main city, Palma de Mallorca, is often considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe with its ancient European charm and stunning architecture. Palma de Mallorca is a calm and vibrant Spanish city full of narrow streets, cafes, exclusive shops that are incredibly beautiful, interesting architecture to admire and a very impressive cathedral, the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Palma or more often called La Seu. Often referred to as the pearl of the Balearic Islands, Majorca is a sunny paradise with picturesque coves, towering mountains and Moorish architecture.

Often overlooked for its most popular island, Ibiza, Majorca is a great holiday destination in itself. Es Trenc, on the south coast of Mallorca, is one of the most popular beaches on the island. The beaches of Calo de Moro or the quieter neighbor Cala Almunia are a great starting point.
